FOMO Social Media

"FEAR OF MISSING OUT" - is the formal nomenclature of the slang " FOMO ".

So let me explain what exactly this means by an example. Suppose you are sitting in your home watching TV while your friends are out for a road trip and now you can't do anything but wonder what all you gonna miss out. How much fun are they having without you there? Its a ubiquitous kind of feeling that rushes in your nerves and gives you a sort of anxiety of missing out what you have imagined in your head --the joy, the laughter, the jokes, the elation, etc. This is what in modern times we name it as FOMO.

Well to some extent it's natural for everyone to get this kind of feeling in a low to moderate levels but if it has become part of your very existence and renders you a sense of anxiety and depression, then it requires to be handled.

In today's world where the technology is touching skies and there's no bar when it comes to making use of social media ( so millennial of us), the FOMO has taken a catastrophic face altogether. People have started giving much importance to their ONLINE relationships than their OFFLINE bonds. Spending tons of hours online have made people robotic. Obviously, there's no denying the fact that social media has many positive aspects but one of the major side effects being this FOMO. People are unable to distinguish between the real and the virtual world. Moreover, the frequency and intensity of this are being increasing day by day. It's not only affecting the youth but people from different age and strata of society.

So how and when you realize you have an uncontrolled FOMO?

1. You are a social media addict i.e. you are always on phone scrolling down on your various social media handles.

2. You can very easily procrastinate important things 'offline' for being 'online' and constantly desire to stay connected to other people's lives.

3. You get anxious and panic ( even worst ) when you notice others are being rewarded, travelling, getting married, having children, buying expensive stuff, etc, etc.

4. Even on sick days, you overlook your health and always ready to go out, click pictures and then upload it on social media or make snapchat stories.

5. You spend more money than you can afford just to suffice your imaginary inferiority complex.

6. You need constant reassurance and appreciation or validations in the form of likes and comments (on social media handles) to satisfy your ego.

7. Always have a sense of insecurity, jealousy, enviousness or complex and feeling of missing out high points in your life as compared to others.

Effects of FOMO

1. Has pernicious effects on mental & physical health as well as social life.

2. Lost one's own identity. Try to constantly change in order to fit in their imaginary social arena.

3. Causes mood swings, aloofness, feeling of inferiority, reduced self-esteem, anxiety and depression.

4. Avoiding social settings, excessive social anxiety and fear of losing connect to people.

5. The relationship with people 'offline' also suffers ( worse cases ).

6. Higher levels of stress and negativity in-turn causes other physical illnesses.

7. Most important, it is a major obstacle for your personal growth and progress and it hampers your creativity and self-identity.

How to overcome FOMO

1. Focus more on your real and personal life than virtual and social life.

2. Re-frame your thought process and understand each person has his own share of high and low times of life and one always display high and joyous times on social media which you should not compare with your low times and feel bad or anxious about it.

3. Reduce your online hours and use your mind and energy in constructive and productive matters.

4. Replace your negative thoughts by the rational mindset and remember what is seen and perceived by you is just a fraction of one's life and nobody would expose his low and not so happening times.

5. Practice yoga and meditation so that one should try and deviate his thoughts from negative things to more logical and positive ones. Also, indulge yourself in sports and recreational hobbies.

6. Make your life goals and strive hard to achieve it, so that you don't have time to ponder over other's life and success. Make your own success story than to feel inferior by others.

7. Strike a good balance in your personal and professional life as such a person is always happy and content.

SO LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH AND RISE ABOVE ALL INSECURITIES AND NEVER MISS OUT THE BEST IN YOU AS YOU'RE ONE OF A KIND........

KARMA-SUTRA.................When life has multiple ways to screw you.................

Have these kinds of thoughts ever arrived in your mind, " WHY m I suffering despite the fact that I have always been so ethically sounded when it comes to my deeds and intentions ?" and stuff like that.
Yes, the answer by the majority of you would be in agreement with this statement. It's not that God has some sort of enmity to you, but its due to the karmic account which needs to be balanced by your own deeds or karma without which you ought to take births in order to come to the state of equilibrium with your good and evil deeds. So how does it work exactly? Let me support this with the few

LAWS OF KARMA :

1. THE GREAT LAW

Whatever we put into the Universe, will come back to us...

2. THE LAW OF CREATION

Life doesn't happen by itself, we need to make it happen...

3. THE LAW OF HUMILITY

One must accept something in order to change it ...

4. THE LAW OF GROWTH

When we change ourselves, our lives follow suit and change too...

5. THE LAW OF RESPONSIBILITY

We must take responsibility for what is in our lives ...

6 THE LAW OF CONNECTION

The past, present and future are all connected ...

7. THE LAW OF FOCUS

We can't think of two things at a time ...

8. THE LAW OF HOSPITALITY

Our behaviour should match our thoughts and actions ...

9. THE LAW OF HERE AND NOW

One can't be in the present if he is looking backwards ...

10. THE LAW OF CHANGE

History repeats itself until we learn from it and change it ...

11. THE LAW OF PATIENCE AND REWARD

The most valuable rewards require patience and perseverance...

12. THE LAW OF INSPIRATION

Rewards are directly proportional to the energy, efforts and determination we put into...

So it is being said that everything is predestined. Really? Well, this is a controversial statement according to me for I have somewhat different views when it comes to this. I hold a firm belief in KARMA. For me, there is no such thing. The results and outcomes are directly in relation to the karma you are performing to achieve the same. You will have to compensate for your deeds or karma if not in the same birth then in other birth and until to the point where your karmic debts are paid off. When there comes a state where you reach a point of equilibrium or when your entire karmic debts are waived off and it is null then you are expelled out of the "REBIRTH TRAP " and attains salvation.

So the answer to the very first question at the beginning of this blog is henceforth:

Life has many ways to teach you in every form you can imagine or beyond and if you are getting worse despite being right on your part, its just because you are clearing your balance sheet of karmic account. Blessed are those who get the opportunity to balance it in the same birth and one who is not able to do so in the same birth carries it forward to another one and continues to be the part of the cycle of born and reborn till the time he balances and attain salvation.

So continue doing good guys. I know its simple to speak and preach but I am not into teaching stuff. I know its too frustrating and that's why we are not saints or GOD.  At the end of the day, even I am a normal human being who commits mistakes, learn from it and grow each day and that is all I can ask you guys of.....

DON'T LET YOUR BAD KARMA SCREW YOU.........

BE YOU.....

I sit back and realize as of how times have changed so far. Things which were so important for us at some point of time are no longer even bothered about nowadays. A sense of individualism has lost. People are getting baffled by others’ success and trying to imitate others without even realizing that they are losing oneself in the process. Forgetting that each one of us has one’s own share of happiness or grief, victory or defeat, gains or losses. I wonder where would it end. Why try to be one, why to compare yourself with anyone, neither two persons would have the same life path nor would be their phases of success or failure. One should carve his own niche, his own path, and walk on it with zeal and perseverance. Remember if you fear to do anything new or if you have apprehensions with regard to its execution and outcomes, that truly signifies the fact that the path you have chosen for yourself is full of courage, determination, hard work, and perseverance. It demands your soul into it. If things had been so fancy and run of the mill, or if it hadn’t filled with risk and fear, any yet another person would have done it. Nobody would give you free lunches here, the one you are imitating to or the one whose success seems lucrative to you, definitely has his own share of struggles and hard work but it is ironical that how it all seems undemanding. Always strive to become the best version of yourself than to become the imitated version of others. Try to distinguish between your dreams and your desires because dreams are what you chase with full vigour and never want these to die. Dreams can get you through even the worst days, while desires are momentary and you tend to lose these with the test of time.
So make your success your dream and not a desire and remember the one with a fierce dream and an outrageous vision would always have to give tests of time and life. However, the one with an undying passion for his dream would definitely emerge victoriously.
Successful is not the one who defeat others, but he is the one who has mastered his senses, the one who overcomes his insecurities, complexes, enviousness, jealousies and has his own path to lead as well as follow. So, be the ruler of your senses and soul than to be the slave of others’ aura.
BE YOU…… BE –YOU–TIFUL………………
